This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "CIA says Russia intervened to help Trump win White House" carried by the newspaper on Sunday. According to it, the CIA has concluded that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help President-elect Donald Trump win the White House, and not just to undermine confidence in the US electoral system.
Quoting a senior US official, the report also claimed that US intelligence agencies have assessed that as the 2016 presidential campaign drew on, Russian government officials devoted increasing attention to assisting Donald Trump's effort to win the election.
One day later, however, Trump said that he didn't believe reports that intelligence agencies concluded that Russia intervened in the US election on his behalf.
Although, Trump has strongly denied such reports, something is rotten in the state of Denmark. For example, Trump had employed a conciliatory approach to Moscow throughout his campaign and even after winning the election. He once said, '[T]his is an imperfect world. You cannot always choose your friends but you can always recognise your enemies.'
