The Met Office has asked the farmers of rains dependent areas to sow wheat till November 15 to avoid a yield loss. It warned that cultivation latter than November 5 would reduce wheat output. It asked the farmers of irrigated areas in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to complete wheat sowing during the current month.
As dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of the country during the next month, the Met Office urged those farmers obtaining water through tube-wells to schedule irrigating their crops in line with the forecast.
It said farmers should cultivate winter vegetables on time with a view to help the crops consume existing soil dampness fully. It asked the cotton growers to prepare their fields for next Rabi crops, saying the farmers should complete the seasonal crops on time.
It advised the farmers to control weeds growth at the present stages to stop any negative impacts on the crops. Weather in Punjab is expected to remain dry weather till November 10. In Sindh, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the province over the period. Mainly dry weather is likely to remain with light rainfall at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand and Hazara Division till November 5.
