The New Zealand dollar traded as high as US$0.8145 after the decision from $0.8134. It was last at $0.8136, up 0.4 percent on the day.
The New Zealand central bank decision came on Thursday in New Zealand but in mid afternoon trading on Wednesday in New York during Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's press conference following a US central bank policy meeting.
