LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tuesday expressed concern over the Federal Board of Revenue’s Statutory Rules and Orders (SRO) 821(1)2011 as it believes compulsory requirement of National Tax Number (NTN) or Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number of every purchaser or seller is impossible.
LCCI President said that it was not an agreed proposal and former FBR chairman Salman Siddique had been tried to convince to withdraw this controvercial SRO.
He said that FBR should avoid implementing the SRO without the consultation of the business community for being the main stakeholder.
The FBR he said should broaden the tax net by bringing the agriculture sector into the net and also demanded the federal finance minister to help withdraw the SRO.
