LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday ordered for forensic audit of Rs 20 billion expenditures incurred on Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI).
The bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, passed the order while hearing a suo motu notice regarding salary structure of PKLI employees, at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.
During the hearing, the chief justice expressed his annoyance over PKLI head Dr Saeed Akhtar, saying that he was a surgeon but appointed as PKLI head for Rs 1.2 million monthly salary.
The chief justice also questioned the expenditures incurred on establishment of the PKLI.
The court, adjourning further hearing, ordered for forensic audit of Rs 20 billion expenditures incurred on PKLI and also sought a report within three weeks in this regard.
