Alongside iOS 12, Apple might launch software to curb iPhone addiction

Apple too has joined the race of focusing more on users’ digital well being, as it will soon introduce a new feature that will help users curb their iPhone addiction by letting them know how much time they have been spending on the phone.

Apple is all geared up for its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) set to happen on June 4, where it will announce its new iOS 12. As a part of Apple’s iOS 12, it will also introduce a new ‘Digital Health’ initiative that will include ‘a series of tools to help users monitor how much time they spend on their devices and inside of certain application’, as per Bloomberg.

Reports suggest that the Digital Health feature will be integrated in the Settings app in iOS 12. iOS 12 update will prioritize speed, stability, and responsiveness over new features or major redesign. Also, Apple will also have some incremental updates to Mac software, wrote Daily Mail.

New feature to show users amount of time they spend on Instagram

The iOS 12 will also include an advanced version of Apple’s ARKit augmented reality platform, ‘ARKit 2.0’. This will reportedly let users play AR games against each other in the same simulated environment. It will also let people save share users’ location and AR objects along with integrating numerous new Animoji.

The feature, however, cannot be considered a new one since another tech giant Google has recently announced Android updates in its upcoming Android P that will help to combat phone addiction. Moreover, YouTube too recently added a ‘take a break’ feature to remind users to stop binge watching videos. Social media site Instagram too announced an ‘Insights’ feature letting users to see how much time they are spending on the app, wrote Mashable.
