IPL hero Shane Watson joins Karachians in T10 League

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has been appointed as the icon player of the Karachians team in the upcoming T10 league that is scheduled to be held at UAE in December.

The all-rounder has joined the Karachians in a 10-over format league, just days after hitting a Man-of-the-Match winning century for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final. The CSK went on to be beat the Hyderabad Sunrisers convincingly by eight wickets.

“I am very, very grateful to be able to play in the T20 tournaments and incredibly fortunate for an opportunity to play in a T10 tournament and for a franchise like Karachians,” said Watson at a news conference in Dubai, quoted Sports360.

“The 10 overs definitely suit my body [these days] more than test cricket or four day cricket. Like it was when I first started playing Twenty20 cricket in 2004-2005. It’s a different dynamic to what you think it’s going to be,” he added.

Watson ton takes Chennai Super Kings to third IPL title

Speaking about fellow Aussies mates Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft over the fall-out of the ball-tampering scandal, Watson believes the penalties handed out to the Australian cricketers were ‘extreme’.

“It is an extreme penalty for what they did compared to the bans that have happened and the reprimands that have happened in the past,” Watson said, quoted cricket.com.au.

“They have paid a heavy price, there is no question, and when they come back they will be doing everything they can to try and repay people for the mistakes they made,” he said.
