Contempt proceedings against Talal: SC summons witnesses to record testimony

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court summoned General Manager, Operation of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Muhammad Tahir to record his testimony in a contempt of court proceedings against Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry for criticizing the judiciary.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed also directed the PML-N leader to produce his all the17 witnesses on time before the court as it would not linger on the matter.
While submitting list of witnesses from accused side, Kamran Murtaza counsel for Chuadhry sought time to produce the witnesses and took the plea that time will be taken to produce the witnesses. To this, Justice Gulzar remarked "why you people want to produce so many witnesses, the court will not allow anyone to use delaying tactics in the case."
Subsequently, the court while directing GM operation PEMRA to appear before the court adjourned further hearing of the case till May 24.
