Younis Khan still believes Fawad Alam should’ve been selected

Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan said that top order batsman Fawad Alam deserves a place in squad for tour of England, as he believes his excellent batting performance are the evidence of his capabilities.
As per local media, Khan was of the view that the upcoming tour of England was the best opportunity to get Fawad into the Pakistani squad. When it comes to performance and eligibility, the top order batsman deserve a place.
Younis, who announced his retirement last year after becoming the first Pakistani to score 10,000+ Test runs, said that there was time when Fawad was not offered the chance due to the the presence of senior batsmen including Misbah ul Haq, Inzamam ul Haq and himself. However, he said, Fawad should now be given a chance to showcase his talent.
Earlier, Younis had called Fawad ‘unlucky’ for not getting selected into the squad, despite strong showings. “He is unlucky that despite scoring [massive runs] in first-class cricket, he is being ignored,” said the former batsman.
The debate on Fawad's non-selection began after he was not chosen in he squad for Pakistan tour to England. Pakistan will play against Ireland, which will be their first-ever Test against Pakistan from May 11 to May 15 in Dublin. Pakistan will then play two Tests against England at Lord’s from May 24 to May 28 and Headingley from June 1 to June 5.
