ROTTERDAM: The European meals and feeds market started the New Year very slow due to lack of participation, with much of the world closed for a bank holiday on Monday.
"With all the important countries closed, there was really no market and the few asking prices issued were purely indications," one broker said.
South American soymeal was offered between unchanged and $3 a tonne up from Friday, mostly following the trend in Chicago on Friday. Bids were scarce and no deals were reported.
Most other products were quoted flat to a little up from Friday following soymeal and firmer rapeseed futures but asking prices were hardly tested and no business was seen.
