The third phase of inter tehsil level of the biggest sporting event of the history of Pakistan, Punjab Sports Festival 2012 has started in all 26 districts of Punjab. The inter tehsil winning teams participated in all 13 games including cricket tape-ball, cricket hardball, karate, taekwondo, basketball, volleyball, hockey, weight lifting, wrestling, kabaddi, athletics, badminton and football.
In Lahore, Marina Masood from Kinnaird School won the 100 metre race, Asma Khalid from Society School was declared second. In 200 metre, Rabia Sadiq from Yasmeen School Lalpul got the first position while Marina Masood from Kinnaird School was declared second. In 400 metre, Naima from Kinnaird School got first and Mahnoor from Singhpura School achieved second positions. In 800 metre, Mehak from Kinnaird School scored first position and Irum from Government High School Dryport Mughalpura secured second position. In 1500 metre, Mafia from Government High School Dry port Mughalpura got first position and Khizra from Kinnaird School attained second position.
Atiqa Akram from Kinnaird School secured first position in long jump and javelin throw while Sabahat from Kinnaird School was the winner of the shot put. In the football matches of boys schools, Government High School Shahdara defeated Government High School Jallomore.
In volleyball tournaments, Lahore Cantt beat Lahore city 3-1 while in the volleyball girls schools matches, Government High School Samanabad defeated the Lahore School Model Town. In the third match between Samanabad School and Kinnaird School, Samanabad thrashed Kinnaird School. In boys schools Karate competitions, Lahore city hit first position with 40 points, Cantt with 30 points and Model Town with 20 points were second and third. In boys college Karate competitions, Superior College secured first position with 30 points, Punjab College with 20 points was second whereas Cantt College with 15 points attained third position.
The opening ceremonies of inter tehsil competitions of Punjab Sports Festival 2012 were held at Iqbal park sports complex and railway ground Garhi Shahu. MPA Waseem Qadir and MPA Rana Iqbal inaugurated the ceremonies of wrestling and Kabaddi competitions. In wrestling 62KG category, Sarwar got first position while Faisal from Cantt was second. In 77kg, Naeem from Lahore city got first and Riaz from Model Town secured second.s
