The Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) has disbursed an amount of Rs 892 million during the month of January. This was stated by Javed Iqbal, Director General (Operations) South here on Wednesday. He said that EOBI is a prime welfare organisation for labour welfare in the country.
It provides pensionary benefits to the workers/employees of the private sectors, industrial, commercial establishments during their old age, invalidity and after their demise to their survivors. During the same month EOBI has registered 503 new employers, 22,776 employees and approved 1981 new pension claims which included 1,095 old age, 36 invalidity, 687 survivors and 163 old age grants claims.
There are 83,162 employers and 4,865,298 insured persons have been registered since the inception of EOB Scheme and numbers of beneficiaries have reached to 424,930. He also informed that the EOBI has collected Rs 868 million as EOB contribution from the registered employers and employees during the same month.
It was further pointed out that EOBI has started disbursement of pension through Easypaisa which is a fastest mobile banking service in the country. The Chairman EOBI, Zafar Iqbal Gondal, has said through Easypaisa, we aim to make lives easier for our old age, disabled and widow pensioners. It is our another step towards providing convenience to our aged and respectable pensioners.-PR
