Traders, Transporters and members of civil society on Wednesday jointly launched a protest campaign against dearness, corruption and lawlessness, recent hike in petroleum products' prices and electricity and gas tariffs. A mobile campaign "Caravan-e-Inqilab" had also been started from the last week to create awareness among general masses about the unfair policies of the government.
The protesting traders were hoisting banners inscribed slogans against the unprecedented hike and levy on PoL products, gas and electricity. The trader leaders completely rejected the levy on Petroleum commodities and demanded of the government to immediately take back the decision.
They said that the trade and economic activities were immensely disturbed due to law and order situation in the province. Khalid Ayub, President Tajjar Ittihad, speaking the protesters said that traders' community had adversely suffered in prevailing situation. He criticised the ANP-led coalition government, which had broken all corruption records in the province.
Ayub said that the high officials of Provincial Development Authority were involved in massive corruption in different development projects. He accused that the appointment of PDA Director General was totally illegal and demanded his immediate removal.
