Chairman, Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Geelani has appealed the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majeed to build a Memorial in Muzaffarabad similar to Europe's Holocaust Memorial in remembrance of the people of Kashmir. In a letter written to the AJK PM, Geelani said that it is the need of the hour that people especially the new generation should be aware about the struggle and the sacrifices made during the last 65 years.
"In such circumstances, it becomes an obligation for the people of Azad Kashmir to keep the sacrifices made by Kashmiri people alive," Geelani wrote in the letter. "On one hand it will aware the international community and on the other hand will keep alive the sacrifices of the oppressed people who have lost their lives and still are sacrificing their lives while struggling against the occupational forces," he added.
