As Citi Pakistan celebrates its 50th anniversary in Pakistan and its 200th anniversary world-wide, it reiterates its commitment to the field of micro-finance by announcing that the foundation will continue its support to the Micro entrepreneur-ship Awards Programme, highlighting achievements of some of the most innovative entrepreneurs in Pakistan.
This year, the foundation is committing $2,000,000 for the programme. In 2010, the awards took place in 28 countries including Pakistan. The awards will take place in collaboration with Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, for eighth year in a row in Pakistan this year.
At this event, awards in cash and kind will be presented in various categories, including "Best National Micro entrepreneur Male", 'Best National Micro entrepreneur Female', "Best Regional Micro entrepreneurs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, AJK and one for federal capital and Gilgit & Baltistan, with one runner-up in each category. Special awards in the categories for innovative business ideas, young entrepreneur for overcoming adversity and having positive impact on the community would also be given. Recognition awards will be given to the respective loan officers and representatives of micro-finance institutions.
A national advisory council and judging committee comprising of well-placed professionals from the civil society, donor agencies, intellectuals and academicians has been formed to oversee the programme and interview the short-listed candidates.
