At least 23 people died and 15 others injured when a speedy bus and van collided here on Sunday evening. The fatal accident took place on the National Highway near Gujjo when a passenger bus coming from Karachi to Thatta collided head-on with a passenger van. Police and rescuers rushed to the spot and removed the mutilated bodies from the wreckage of ill-fated van.
Majority of the victims were beyond recognition. Bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Makli and five of the critically injured were rushed to Karachi.
Some of the victims were identified as Wishno Mal, Abdul Ghaffar, Mureed, Abdul Hafeez, Akbar Rind and Imdad Ali. The injured include Ali Akbar, Hassan Shah, Jewan, Ismail, Ghafoor, Sarwar, Ismail Noonari, Muhammad Ali, Hameed, Ahmed, Achaar, Imdad, Ghulam Ali and Aaisha.
