Thirteen people died Saturday in two separate bomb blasts in Afghanistan, officials said. Eight Afghan civilians, including a newly wed, were killed as a roadside bomb exploded in eastern Laghman province. "The civilians were travelling in an area close to Mehtarlam city, the capital of Laghman, when their minivan hit a roadside bomb," said Faizullah Pattan, the acting provincial spokesman.
"Eight people, one of whom was a groom who just had his wedding party the night before, were killed. One child and a woman were also killed," said Pattan. Meanwhile, five Afghans - including three policemen - were wounded in a separate bombing in western Afghanistan. "The bomb was set in a bicycle and went off when a police vehicle was crossing the Torghondi-Herat highway in Herat province," said Mahiuddin Noori, the provincial spokesman. Two civilians and three policemen were wounded, he said.
