CHICAGO: Spot basis bids for corn at ethanol manufacturers in the US Midwest on Monday were steady to weaker after farmers stepped up sales which tempered demand, grain merchants said.
Bids for corn at Midwest processors and elevators were generally unchanged. But an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio lowered bids by 4 cents per bushel after shoring up inventories.
Corn bids at regional river terminals were steady to mixed.
A Seneca, Illinois river elevator raised corn bids by 5 cents per bushel due to mostly frozen conditions on the Illinois River.
Softer cash premiums for corn delivered by barge to US Gulf Coast exporters weakened bids at a river elevator in Savanna, Illinois.
Soybean spot bids at Midwest elevators and processors were unchanged to uneven as sales and demand varied.
