Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly, has said that Parliament is fully cognisant about the plight of the women in the country and has passed more than a dozen legislative bills related to women during last three years. She said that Women Parliamentarians are striving hard for the well-being of women and resolving the problems confronted by them.
She said this while addressing the Ramazan package ceremony organised by women parliamentary caucus to indigent women of Islamabad in the Parliament House on Saturday. Speaker said that women participation is imperative for national development. She said that women consist of more than half of the country's population and could play a vital role in the national progress and prosperity. She said that under her supervision a Women Parliamentary Caucus had been established for the well-being of women of the country.
She said that Parliamentary Caucus is playing a vital role to initiate legislation for the betterment of women and resolving their problems. She said that Islam gives women respect, dignity, equal rights and freedom to work. She said that the Pakistani women have lots of potential and could play an active role in national development if the proper opportunities provided to them.
She said that the government is taking keen interest in the provisions of education and health facilities to women. She said that with the passage of time more and more women shall be entering in health, education and sector of economy. The speaker said that an educated mother could ensure a well trained, well behaved and well educated generation. She stressed the need more role of the women in decision making. -PR
