Zafar Qureshi, Deputy Director, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), having assumed charge of his office recently on August 11 on orders of the Supreme Court, was denied entry into FIA building on Saturday. Zafar reached the town to meet with the investigation team of the NICL case but he was not allowed to enter the FIA building.
A scheduled meeting of the investigation team was likely to take place at the FIA building. He reached there at 12:15 pm, facing the FIA doors shut on him and found his office locked. Zafar had asked the authorities concerned to ensure presence of four members of his investigation team during the meeting in provincial metropolis.
Interestingly, as Zafar was earlier suspended a month ago for demanding posting of members of his investigation team to their previous positions. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had suspended him to please his new PMLQ coalition partners on July 2. The FIA officials on duty also misbehaved with Zafar and shut the doors of the building. Accordingly, Zafar returned after the officials on duty misbehaved with him.
Zafar left the FIA premises without having a word with media persons, assembled there in a large number. Earlier, the FIA building was also vacated early in the morning following a bomb hoax. However, no such clues of bomb were there and the bomb disposal team cleared the building about an hour before the visit of Zafar Qureshi.
