Sindh government on Friday lifted ban on pillion riding in Karachi while interdicting the sales and purchase of firecrackers ahead of Shab-e-Baraat. According to a notification issued by the Home Department here, the ban on pillion riding has been lifted while police has been directed to initiate crackdown against the dealers of fireworks.
The decision was taken by Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan at a meeting held at his office. Additional Chief Secretary Waseem Ahmed, Advisor to Home Ministry, Sharfuddin Memon, Sindh IG Wajid Durrani and others were also present. The Sindh government had imposed ban on pillion riding on July 6, 2011.
