Bullish sentiments dominate LSE

Published Updated

Bullish sentiments dominated Lahore Stock Exchange on Friday where equities staged recoveries amid fresh buying in select sectors including oil, fertiliser, and banks. The LSE-25 index jumped up by 38.25 points to close at 3134.95 points against 3096.70 points of Thursday. Transaction volume moved up to 1.890 million shares compared with previous volume of 918,665 shares.
The market opened on a positive sign and kept on moving in green zone throughout the day. The investors stayed on buying course and picked shares of their choice that helped market recovery. National Refinery, Pakistan Oilfields, PSO, Attock Refinery, PPL and OGDC played key role in supporting the market sentiment. Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Fatima Fertiliser, MCB Bank, Bank of Punjab, Bank Alfalah, Nimir Industrial Chemical and Lucky Cement also remained attractive.
However, investors preferred profit taking and offloaded their holdings in Engro Corporation, Dawood Hercules Chemical, PTCL, Lotte Pakistan PTA and Askari Bank which closed with marginal losses. The advancing stocks were ahead of declining ones, as out of 108 active issues, 32 companies registered gains and 12 landed in negative column, while 64 companies remained unchanged.
National Refinery improved by Rs 10.41, Fauji Fertiliser improved by Rs 6.23, and Pakistan Oilfields appreciated by Rs 6.14 while PSO and Attock Refinery were up by Rs 3.46 and Rs 2.71 respectively. Engro Corporation lost Rs 3.26, Dawood Hercules Chemical declined by 94 paisa, and PTCL shed 41 paisa, while Nishat Chunian and Lotte Pakistan PTA were down by 37 paisa and 29 paisa respectively. Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim was market leader whose 349,020 shares changed hands, followed by Lotte Pakistan PTA with 303,024 shares.
