HYDERABAD: The newly appointed PML-N Sindh General Secretary Shah Muhammad Shah Monday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would continue its struggle for strengthening democratic institutions in the country.

The party had respect for all institutions and the country, which was passing through crucial time, could not afford any clash among them, he said while speaking here at a reception hosted in his honour.

He said former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was a patriotic Pakistani, who was disqualified on the charge of possessing an 'Aqama' (residential permit). The politicians were held accountable in the court of masses, he added.

Referring to the issue of the fixation of sugarcane price, he said that under the18th Amendment, the provinces were responsible to fix the price. The Punjab government had fixed cane price at Rs 182 per 40 kilograms but the Sindh government had not done justice to the farmers under the influence of powerful persons.

Shah Muhammad Shah on behalf of the party announced support to the sit-in being staged by the growers on December 23 in Hyderabad. The PML-N would back the genuine demands of the farmers at all forums, he added.

General Secretary PML (N) Minority Wing Sindh Khealdas Kohistani, MPA Sorath Thebo, Asad Junejo, Shah Zaman Shah, Hanif Siddiqui, Ali Akbar Gujjar and Ghulam Mustafa Advocate also addressed the reception.
