Bears dominated the proceedings at Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) on Monday where equities showed negative signs amid descending transaction volume. The LSE-25 index moved down to 3233.17 points against 3267.99 points of last trading day, showing a decline of 34.82 points, while transaction volume further squeezed to 3.548 million shares as compared to previous 5.849 million shares.
According to brokers, investors are scared and did not show interest to take fresh positions. The levels of a few dividend-oriented shares were attractive and investment in such shares could yield positive results. Engro Corp, OGDC, Netsol Tech, Bank Alfalah, SSGC, SNGPL, Hub Power and BoP resisted pressure and registered gains while Thal, Pak Oilfields, FFC, HBL, Adamjee Insurance, Nishat Chunian, PPL, Nishat Mills, Attock Refinery and NBP suffered losses and closed in minus column.
Losers were much more than gainers, as out of a total of 100 companies, only 9 closed in green and 43 suffered losses, while 48 stayed unchanged. Engro Corporation gained Rs 2.61, OGDC improved by Rs 2.42, Netsol Tech appreciated by 20 paisa, and Bank Alfalah, SSGC, SNGPL, Hub Power Co, and BoP were up by 18 paisa, 16 paisa, 9 paisa, 8 paisa, and 6 paisa, respectively.
Among, Thal shed Rs 2.75, Pak Oilfields declined by Rs 2.15, FFC lost Rs 2.12, while HBL, Adamjee Insurance, Nishat Chunian, PPL, Nishat Mills, Attock Refinery and NBP were down by Rs 2.04, Rs 1.97, Rs 1.42, Rs 1.40, Rs 1.24, Rs 0.92 and Rs 0.91, respectively.
