Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the fresh raise in the POL prices was the first gift of the new ruling alliance to the masses. Addressing an Azm-e-Inqilab Conference on Sunday, he said that the POL prices had now crossed the proverbial "sky high" limit, and added that the gang of apitalists and feudal lords would only add to the miseries of the masses.
Former JI chief, Qazi Husain, JI deputy chief Sirajul Haq and JI Punjab chief, Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar also addressed the conference attended by thousands of men, women and children.
Syed Munawar Hassan said that the people who had imposed Asif Ali Zardari on the nation were now crying foul whereas the nation was paying for having voted for the US allies in the shape of drone attacks and suicide bombings.
He said in Karachi dozens of innocent people were being killed in target killings, the killers were sitting in the government but the PPP was simply protecting its government and was least worried about the killings. Every sane citizen was worried about the present state of affairs and the solution lay in electing patriotic, competent and honest people to power, he added.
Referring to the appointment of General David Patreaus as CIA chief, Syed Munawar Hasan said this implied that the US was not happy with the Pakistani rulers and was bent upon punishing this country for its defeat in Afghanistan.
He said the reports in the US media that General Patreaus would fight his third war in Pakistan should make Islamabad review its US policy and pull out of the so-called war on terror. Besides, the rulers should adopt the path of dialogue in FATA and Balochistan instead of military operation. India was openly interfering in Balochistn with the blessing of the US and Israel where the situation was getting worse with every passing day.
