A constitutional petition was filed in Supreme Court, praying to issue directives to put the names of Sharmila Farouqi, former advisor to Sindh chief minister, her father Usman Farouqi and mother Anisa Farouqi on exit control list (ECL).
The petition was filed by Habib Wahabul Khairi of al-Jehad Trust under Article 184 (3) of the constitution, making the federation through secretary law and justice, four provincial chief secretaries, Usman Farouqi, his spouse Mrs Anisa Farouqi and Ms Sharmila Faoruqi as respondents.
The petitioner prayed that all the money, benefits and privileges drawn by Sharmila Farooqui as advisor to Sindh chief minister be withdrawn. He prayed court to put the respondents' names on ECL. "Since she was illegally appointed advisor for over two and a half years (30 month) during her ten year disqualification period, thus these two and a half (30 months) should be added to her ten years disqualification period", the petitioner prayed.
He contended that even after being removed from advisor office, Sharmila Farouqi continues to use official government of Sindh cars, Sindh police guards, Sindh Police mobile escorts with petrol. Sindh government offices, official telephones, official protocol, government facilities, all these on Sindh, Pakistan government expenses, just as a minister would use. These should immediately be taken away from her, as it is a waste of limited sources of the nation, the petitioner prayed.
