KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended 14 accused including two activists of a political party during a crackdown on criminals in the metropolis.
Rangers spokesperson said that the rangers carried out a targeted raid in Awami Colony and Korangi industrial area, apprehending two political party activists, Muhammad Kamran and Ishtiaq Ahmed alias Alam. The accused were affiliated with a political party, the Rangers said.
The accused were involved in target killing, extortion, robberies and wall chalking, said rangers.
Separately, a Rangers’ party conducted search operations in Malir area and arrested two Lyari gang war members, Shahzaib and Ubaid Iqbal. During search operations in Khokhrapar, Korangi, Zaman town areas and detained 10 criminals, Sufiyan, Muhammad Ahmed, Shahid, Zeshan, Weki, Ali Sher, Muhammad Youuf, Muhammad Akram, Riawan and Shahzad.
The rangers said that the accused were allegedly involved in robberies, snatching mobile phones, drug peddling and target killing. The rangers also claimed to have recovered weapons, contrabands and drugs from their possession.
They would be handed over to the police for further legal proceedings, said rangers.
