KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said Wednesday that making city roads and flyovers bright and beautiful was top priority. Officials of Electrical & Mechanical Department should give importance to the suggestions of elected representatives in all uplift and maintenance works.
Measures should be taken for rehabilitation of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Asphalt Plant.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Electrical & Mechanical Department which was attended by the chairman of the city council committee on E&M Khaliduddin and other members besides the parliamentary leader in city council Aslam Shah Afridi, chairman lands committee Arshad Hassan and director general works Shahab Anwar and other officers.
According to progress report that was presented in the meeting, lighting arrangements on the directive of Mayor Karachi were made on Shahra-e-Pakistan, Haji Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road, Hasan Square Flyover, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Mai Kolachi Road, Sharea Faisal.
Akhtar said full and proper monitoring system should be adopted in the department which could ensure prompt action on any complaints received regarding electrical and mechanical department.
He also directed the director general works to conduct a survey of the site of the Asphalt Plant in Mehmoodabad and prepare estimates of the expenditure that would be incurred on the rehabilitation of Asphalt Plant.
