Apple will be launching three new iPhones in 2018, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The three devices will come with 3D facial recognition sensor and an edge to edge display.

"We predict Apple (US) will launch three new iPhone models in 2H18: 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED models and a 6.1-inch TFT-LCD model, all equipped with a full-screen design and TrueDepth Camera (front 3D sensing), as with iPhone X," Kuo wrote in a note distributed to clients on Monday.

Apple has targeted two iPhones for the ‘high-end market’ that includes one with the 5.8-inch display and the other with a supersized 6.5 inch model with an OLED panel same as in the iPhone X. The iPhone X starts at $999, whereas the price of these high end models is not yet known.

After iPhone X, Apple plans to introduce Face ID in iPads

The third model will be targeted towards the mid-range market with the cost falling between $650 to $750, Tech Juice reported. The lower end device will have a 6.1-inch LCD screen at a lower resolution than the high-end OLED phones and will have Face ID instead of Touch ID. From this it looks like that Apple will be removing Touch ID from all its future devices.

Kuo also predicted in his note that 2018 will be a super cycle for Apple as the company has assembled 100 million to 120 million iPhones in the second half of 2018. For this year, Apple will be shipping 25 million to 27 million iPhone X units, Business Insider reported.

Apple was not immediately available to comment regarding this prediction of Ming-Chi Kuo.
