LONDON: Gold rose more than 1 percent to a session high of $1,695.80 an ounce on Tuesday as the dollar eased against a basket of currencies.
A softer US currency makes dollar-priced commodities such as gold more affordable for holders of other currencies.
Spot gold was trading at $1,694.40 an ounce by 0849 from $1,678.5 late in New York on Monday.
