 HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks closed two percent lower Wednesday as markets weighed positive US economic data against ongoing concerns about Europe's debt crisis and the region's anaemic growth.

 

The benchmark Hang Seng index lost 387.54 points to 18,960.90 on turnover of HK$60.88 billion ($7.82 billion).

Chinese shares closed down 2.48 percent.

The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, ended down 62.80 points at 2,466.96 on turnover of 92.4 billion yuan ($14.5 billion).
