Lahore police arrest 2879 suspects in nine months

LAHORE: On the directive of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir, Lahore Police have exterminated 705 criminal gangs involved in heinous crimes, and arrested 2879 harden criminals, whereas 4397 cases have been traced against them and recovered stolen property worth rupees 378 million during the 10 months of current year. More than 31 thousand eight hundred and forty three proclaimed offenders and court absconders have also been arrested.

This was disclosed by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Ahmad Raza Tahir, here on Saturday.

Ahmad Raza Tahir was informed that during the same period, Lahore Police have busted 705 criminal gangs involved in heinous crimes, and apprehended 2879 harden criminals during the last 10 months, whereas 4397 cases were traced including; nine cases of murder, two case of kidnapping for ransom, 14 cases of robbery cum murder, 63 cases of dacoity, 1506 cases of robbery, 2233 cases of theft and burglary and 570 miscellaneous cases.

The police recovered stolen property worth more than rupees 378 million from the possession of criminals including; more than rupees 33 million in cash, 291 cars, 782 motorcycles, 1946 mobile phones, more than four-kg and 19 tola gold ornaments, seven Wagons, seven pick-ups, 35 carry duba, 45 rikshaw, two Mazda truck, seven tractors and other valuables. Police have also arrested 19568 proclaimed offenders in this period who were wanted in 623 cases of murder, 542 cases of attempt of murder, 582 cases of dacoity, 2243 cases of theft, 1474 cases of robbery and 14104 other cases. Thus 12275 court absconders were also arrested in this period. Lahore Police have registered 4800 cases and arrested 4814 culprits during the campaign against illegal weapon and recovered 54 Kalashnikovs, 221 rifle, 571 guns, 4094 pistols, 299 revolvers, 48 carbine, 10 mouzer, 63 daggers, 778 magazines and more than one lakh bullets.
