ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court issued notices to respondents in protective bail application moved by former parliamentarian Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan and his wife, ex MNA Asma Arbab Alamgir in a case allegedly accumulating wealth beyond known sources of income.
A division bench headed by Justice Aamir Farooq comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb issued the notices in the application moved by the ex-parliamentarians through their counsel Barrister Masroor Shah.
Barrister Masroor Shah argued that his clients were willing to face court proceedings and had decided to participate in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry, however it came into notice through media that authority would arrest both of them on their arrival in Pakistan.
He cited statement of Director General NAB Khybar Pakhtunkhwa aired on TV channels regarding arrests and sought protective bail to appear before the court without taken into custody.
Shah cited Sharjil Mamon, leader of PPP's protective bail in a similar case however the bench directed to submit decision regarding bail of Sharjeel Mamon and adjourned the case till April 5.
It is pertinent to mention here that both of them were residing in Dubai for the last two years and were not cooperating with NAB authorities, which initiated probe against them for having alleged illegal assets in Dubai, UK and Pakistan.
