The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday has suspended pacer Mohammad Irfan for a period of one year.

Irfan has been banned from all forms of cricket for six months and has been slapped with a one-year ban after his confession that he had not informed PCB regarding the offers that he had received from bookies.

In a press conference, Irfan apologized to the nation and admitted that a mistake had been committed on behalf when he had not informed PCB about his meeting with the fixers.

“I admit my mistake and would like to apologies to the nation from the bottom of my heart,” he said.

Irfan claimed that he had received offers from bookies from two different places. The left-arm pacer admitted that he did not inform the board about the offers that he had received.

If the pacer does not comply with the conditions imposed by the PCB and doesn’t render his full cooperation, the ban could be extended to one full year.

The 'Islamabad United' fast bowler is also required to pay a fine of Rs 1 million.

Earlier this month, Irfan appeared before the board’s Anti-Corruption Unit, where he admitted in his video statement that he had been contacted by bookies during the tournament but had not reported the approach to the PCB, as he had been under ‘mental duress due to the recent death of his father.
