Power crisis to be solved within 72 hours: KESC

Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) Wednesday said the power crisis looming the city for the last two days would be solved within next 72 hours. KESC spokesman said the power shortage was recorded at 300MW in the morning and 500MW in the evening aroused due to some technical faults in Unit-4 and Unit-5.
Though the repairing work had been completed on the Unit-4, at Port Qasim, and a mere component replacement was needed on Unit-5, the electricity situation would take 72 hours to be improved, he said. Meanwhile, the hours long power outages in the sizzling heat enraged the citizens who took to the roads and disturbed the law and order situation to register their protest.
Situation remained worse in Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, Lyari and other towns of the metropolis. The protestors blocked roads and set ablaze tires, which caused the worst traffic jam in the cosmopolitan city.
