Provincial Finance Minister, Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak, will present the Punjab budget for 2007-08 in the provincial assembly on Thursday (June 14). The provincial budget would focus on the socio-economic uplift of the masses apart from boosting the economic activity, sources in the Finance Department told Business Recorder, here on Wednesday.
Punjab Minister for Mines and Minerals, Sibtain Khan, said here on Wednesday that the Punjab budget for the fiscal year 2007-08 would be tax-free in which special packages would be announced for agriculture and industrial sectors.
He stated that poverty rate had decreased due to positive policies of the government. Foreign investment has increased with more multi-nationals investing in the country, especially in Punjab, he added. Strict monitoring has helped control prices of consumer items of daily use, he added.
