Pakistan former captain Ramiz Raja is baffled by the exclusion of fast bowler Sohail Khan from Pakistan squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies. Pakistan Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq on Wednesday, announced One Day International (ODI) and T20 squads.
The commentator while talking to BBC Urdu, was of the view that Sohail Khan should have been made into the squads, as he was the most successful bowler of the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) with 16 wickets, and remains a potent bowler in T20 cricket.
Batsmen Kamran Akmal and Ahmad Shahzad made a comeback to the T20 and ODI squads, thanks to good showings in PSL. Along with PSL's emerging talents Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan which made into the T20 and ODI squads. While, fast bowlers Usman Khan Shinwari and Rumman Raees were picked for the T20s.
Raja questioned that batsman Kamran Akaml made into the squad owing to his impressive performance at PSL, similarly, the selectors should have picked Sohail for the T20s.
Furthermore, the cricket commentator lashed out at Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur for his public display of temper towards Sohail Khan during the PSL strategic break. Ramiz said that such acts were confined to the dressing room in the past, and were not displayed in front of everyone.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will play four T20Is, three ODIs and three Test matches during its tour of West Indies starting later this month.
