SHANGHAI: Chinese shares jumped 1.6 percent in morning trade on Friday, tracking gains in overseas markets after European leaders reached a crucial deal to tackle the continent's debt crisis, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, advanced 38.98 points to 2,474.59.
