imagePakistans opening batsman Azhar Ali, good form with the bat continues after he remained 66 not out against the Aussies at the first Day of the second Test match at the MCG.

In doing so, Azhar reached the 1,000 run mark with an average of well above 55 in 2016. He became only the fifth Pakistani batsman to accumulate 1,000 runs in a calendar year after Muhammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Inzamam ul Haq and Mohsin Khan.

Azhar who has come a long way after making his Test debut back in 2010, against England at Lords, has since been one of the consistent run makers for the country in the games longer format.
