imageLosing a hard fought battle does bring in heaps of praises for one if not victory, this is the case with Pakistan cricket team, which has been receiving applause for its gutsy show against the Aussies in the first Test match at the Gabba, Brisbane.

Pakistan batting lineup fought bravely, against the daunting target of 490 in their fourth inning thanks to brilliant knock by Asad Shafiq and the tail-enders, the team came just 39 runs short of what could have been the sweetest of all victories for the Pakistan cricket.

However, the team should now set their eyes to the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne, and not get carried away with what they were able to achieve in the first Test, warned former players.

My message to the players is dont feel too confident because the red ball will zip through a lot at MCG, so if our batsmen cant find boundaries, they should look to rotate the strike and find singles and doubles, stated former Pakistan opener Amir Sohail reported The Express Tribune.

Regarding our bowlers, they will have to learn on the fly to hit the right line and length. Our frontline pacers have often struggled in Australia so our current crop will have to learn quickly where to pitch the ball to get the best results.

While former legendry leg spinner Abdul Qadir was critical of leggie Yasir Shah inability to be the wicket taking force in the first Test match.

Qadir said the reason Yasir had become less effective in the last few Tests was because he was finding it difficult to adjust on pitches in New Zealand and Australia. Yasir must learn how to use the crease and vary the pace, said Qadir while speaking to Dawn News.

He (Yasir) also needs to plan and trap good batsmen like Steve Smith and others on these wickets which is the hallmark of great bowlers.
