imageKARACHI: The 6th population census in Sindh province will be conducted in two phases from March 15 next year, said Chief Statistician of the Federal Bureau of Statistics, Asif Bajwa, here on Tuesday.

The Chief Statistician along with Sindh Census Commissioner Farooq Ahmed Baloch called on Chief Secretary Sindh Rizwan Memon and briefed him about the arrangements for census.

In the first phase, he said that the process would be conducted in Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas, and after a break of 10 days, the process would be taken up in the second phase in Larkana, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Fourteen days have been fixed for housing and population census. House count and population census would be conducted in three and 10 days respectively while the last day has been reserved for registering the homeless.

Bajwa informed that the province of Sindh would have 38,634 census blocks for population census and house count. One numerator will be assigned two blocks and will be accompanied by an Army soldier, he added.

The Chief Secretary assured the chief statistician of the provincial government's full cooperation for this national cause.

Provincial Secretary Implementation and Coordination, Dr. Niaz Ali Abbasi, has been made focal person for the census in Sindh.
