imageISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday strongly criticized Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for engaging up a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft for his visit to Bosnia.

In his message on social media website Twitter, the PTI chief said: in true pretentions-to-badshahat fashion, Nawaz Sharif demands PIA 777 for Bosnia trip, further debilitating PIAs commercial activities.

Imran Khan said that the plummeting of PIAs safety and credibility was reflective of how our corrupt rulers are reducing us to a Banana Republic.

He said: Shocking the depths we have fallen to. PIA was amongst the top airlines of the world and now it is slaughtering goats for safety of its planes.

Prime Minister Sharif will leave for a three-day visit to Bosnia on Tuesday in a Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft. The premier usually uses PIA aircraft for his official visits.

The prime ministers spokesman, Mohammad Salah, told Dawn that Mr Sharif would leave for Bosnia on Tuesday (Dec 20) and return on Thursday (Dec 22).

PIA is currently facing the worst crisis as all 10 of its ATRs and five other aircraft were not operational. The ATR aircraft were grounded soon after the plane crash near Havelian on Dec 7 that claimed the lives of all 48 people on board.
