Motorcycles sale increased by 18.1pc in Jul-Nov

ISLAMABAD: The sale of motorcycles and three wheelers in the country rose by 18.

imageISLAMABAD: The sale of motorcycles and three wheelers in the country rose by 18.1 percent to 648,419 units in first five months (July-November) of fiscal year 2016-17 from 549,013 units in same period of previous year.

Motorcycles sale in November also rose by 26.48 percent to 144,502 units while 114,245 units were sold in the country a year ago.

Similarly on monthly basis the sale also increased by 22.57 percent as compared to the sale of October 2016 when the sale was recorded at 140,037 units.

According to latest data released by Pakistan Auto Manufacturing Association, sale of Honda motorcycles witnessed an increase of 13.92 per cent as it went up from 328,763 units in July-November (2015-16) to 374,558 units in same period of current fiscal year.

The DYL motorcycles' sale also increased to 3,476 units in the period under review as against the sale of 3,086 units in same period of preceding year, thus showing an increase of 12.63 percent.

Similarly sale of Suzuki motorcycles also edged up by 1.27 percent to 7,170 units in first five months of current fiscal year while 7,080 units were sold in same period of last year.

During the period under review only 101 units of Qingqi two-wheelers were sold as against the sale of 141 units in same period of last year.

However, sale of Qingqi three-wheelers witnessed an increase of 16.30 percent, the sale of which was increased from 11,304 units in July-November (2015-16) to 13,147 units in same period of current fiscal year.

Hero motorcycles's sale however, witnessed a decline of 57.4 percent as it went down to 929 units in the period under review as compared to the sale of 1,620 units last year.

Likewise, the sale of Ravi motorcycles also declined by 27.58 percent to 6,504 units in July-November (2016-17) from 8,982 units in same period of last year.

The sale of Sazgar three-wheelers surged to 8,404 units from 5,884 units last year while the sale of RoadPrince motorcycles also jumped to 89,987 units from 63,866 units last year.

The sale of Yamaha motorcycles however declined by 31.87 percent as it was recorded at 5,178 units in first five months of current fiscal year as compared to the sale of 7,601 units in same period of last year.

United Auto motorcycles' sale witnessed an increase of 23.74 percent as 135,189 units were sold in the corresponding period as against sale of 109,253 units in last year while the United Auto three-wheelers' sale also jumped to 1,588 units from 343 units last year.
