ABBOTTABAD: A team of foreigners comprising three French and as many Canadian experts has arrived at PK-661 crash site in Havelian on Tuesday.
According to latest local media reports, members of the ATR team include four experts of the France-based turboprop aircraft manufacturer.
Evidence will be collected from the crash site and according to sources the black box of the plane will be taken to France. On the other hand, all ten ATR aircrafts of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will remain grounded till they are cleared after thorough examination.
On December 7, ATR-42 aircraft of PIA flying from Chitral to Islamabad crashed into the hills near Havelian area of district Abbottabad, killing all 48 onboard. Among those who lost their lives was famous pop singer turned Islamic evangelist Junaid Jamshed.
Jamshed was travelling to Islamabad on the ill-fated PIA plane from Chitral where he had gone on a preaching tour.
The airline has said one of the planes two turboprop engines failed. Pakistan International Airlines Chairman Azam Saigol has also resigned from his post on Monday due to personal reasons.
