Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Noorullah and two of the outlaws were gunned down, while police constable sustained critical wounds during a bloody encounter here at Prang Gar Bazaar of Tehsil Tangi on Sunday.
Charssada DPO Dr Fasehud Din told newsmen that two accused Muntazir and his brother Haji Muhammad were wearing women clothes and Burqa (veil) while walking in the Prang Bazaar.
The police official after becoming suspicious over their style intercepted them and tried to frisk them. The accused, in a bid to escape, allegedly started indiscriminate firing at the police party.
The police retaliated as a result of which the ASI and accused Muntazir and Haji Muhammad were killed on the spot while police constable Muhammad Ishaq sustained critical wounds, who was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.
It may be recalled that Muntazir group and Hammed group had an old enmity with each other and the latter has recently killed one of the member of the farmer group. Eye witnesses said the accused were going to take revenge of their member.
