Vietnam coffee prices at 8-month low, trading at standstill

HO CHI MINH CITY: Vietnamese robusta coffee exporters stopped quoting prices on Tuesday as prices fell back to an eight-month low, tracking a fall in global prices, while fresh beans from the new harvest have yet to hit the market, traders said.

Robusta dropped to between 42.4 million and 42.5 million dong ($2,026-2,032) per tonne, the levels last hit last Thursday and which were the lowest since Feb. 17, when prices stood at 42 million dong a tonne.

"Prices fell after London losses last night and as supplies from the new harvest have not arrived, exporters have stopped offering," a Ho Chi Minh City-based trader said.
