Chinese company shows interest to invest in health sector

imageISLAMABAD: A Chinese pharmaceutical company has expressed keen interest in investment in the healthcare sector specially medical equipment in Pakistan.

A delegation of Chinese National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation Sinopharm expressed its interest during meeting with the minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar here on Tuesday.

The delegation also discussed joint investment in vaccine production.

China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm) was the largest medical and healthcare group under the direct leadership of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

It was famous for its most comprehensive competitiveness and complete chain of the whole pharmaceutical industry in China.

In 2015, the total sales revenue of Sinopharm was over 40.5 billion US dollars. It ranks 276th in the Fortune Global- 500 published by the Fortune Magazine in July 2015.

The minister informed the delegation that in Pakistan, there was huge scope for investment in the active pharmaceutical Ingredient preparation sector, intermediates, vaccines and blood products and finished drugs as well as in the field of medical devices.
