Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah is undoubtedly one of the best performers of Indian cinema. He is also known for his critical reviews on Bollywood celebrities as well. After Rajesh Khanna, Naseeruddin Shah has a lot to say about Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Naseeruddin Shah in a show ‘In Conversation’ hosted by Saeed Naqvi on NewsX he said, “Dilip will be remembered for his contribution to cinema, Amitabh Bachchan won’t. Dilip Kumar was a great actor, but because of his choice of movies. Amitabh probably won’t be remembered for his choices. Your talent lies in your choices. I don’t consider ‘Sholay’ to be a great movie. It may have been a mazedaar film, yes, but not great.”
In another interview to an Indian daily he said, “A star is a person who has spent 40-50 years perfecting the art of being synthetic. Amitabh has perfected that art, and he’s expected to be all real in his films now. He can’t be real in his real life”.
Moreover, similar statement has been passed by veteran actor Nana Patekar when he was quizzed about Rajinikanth and if he feels the Tamil actor is the country’s biggest superstar, he said, “Film is the biggest superstar. If your story is good and executed well then, even if actors are new, the film will do well. As far as stars are concerned, the film will run for two or three days but later on if the film is not good enough, it will not run irrespective of who the star of the film is,” Indian Express reported.
