imageLAHORE: Polling for LA-37, Valley II, on Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative seat will be held on July 21 (Friday).

The election commission has finalised all arrangements for peaceful and transparent election process.

Commission's sources told APP on Thursday that strict security measures had been taken to ensure free and fair elections.

A total number of registered voters for LA-37 seat was 7,221 but after cancellation of hundreds of dubious votes, 3,935 Kashmiri diaspora will cast their vote.

Around 38,00 registered voters hail from Lahore district whereas the rest belong to Sheikhupura. Polling stations will be set up in these two cities.

Ghulam Abbas Mir, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate for LA-37, vowed to inflict a crushing defeat on his rivals, saying Nawaz Sharif was the only personality pleading the case of Kashmiris on the international level.

It is pertinent to mention that Diwan Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din had been elected MLA twice (in 1996 and 2001) from this seat on the ticket of Pakistan People's Party. But then he left the party and now he is contesting for this seat on a PTI ticket.
