imageISLAMABAD: Around 20 pilot easy shops would be set up in areas with low broadband connectivity and bring them into e-commerce sphere.

Easy shops will receive payments and process the order which will be delivered to customers at their designated address in a smooth and hassle-free way, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telenor, Irfan Wahab Khan told mediapersons here on Thursday.

He said Telenor Pakistan and Daraz.pk have partnered to setup Easy Shops across Pakistan through which users who do not have internet, will be able to browse through various products available at Daraz, order these products and receive them at a designated physical address.

Irfan said as a result of this development, Telenor Easy Shops will have marketing material (like posters and flyers) of running products available over counter that users can go through while shop agent would be there to facilitate customer in browsing and ordering products on customers' behalf from his machine.

He said the project initiates development of 20 pilot shops which would grow throughout the nation in future, connecting distant places where e-commerce is still a relatively unknown concept and access to urban shopping centers is limited.

Irfan said Easy Shops have emerged as one of the fastest growing retail channel for Telecom, handsets, digital and financial services and as boundaries between online and off-line worlds are blurring this partnership will open unparalleled opportunities.

He said the collaboration adds more to what Easy Shops deliver to the customers as they can learn about online shopping and book and pay for Daraz.pk products in a convenient manner.

Sharing his thoughts on development, Co-CEO at Daraz Asia, Bjarke Mikkelsen said the collaboration between Telenor and Daraz will definitely develop digital infrastructure and awareness in previously unconnected and distant parts of the nation.

"We plan to expand this project to entire network of 550 Easy Shops in the country," he said and added as a result, everyone will have equal opportunities to be part of growth Pakistan is set to experience.
